FLIGHT ZONE DESCRIPTIONS

Flight Zone Descriptions (Rev. C - Effective Date 4/17/07)

General Pattern - This flight zone is for use primarily for helicopter and airplanes in forward flight. Basic aerobatics (Loops and Rolls) and forward flight are allowed in this zone while still flying in the pattern. A pattern is defined as "which direction the aircraft is flying across the field". If the pattern for the session is called out as “left to right” then you must fly across the field, left to right, at all times. Do not fly through the center or towards oncoming models. The pattern MUST be maintained during takeoff and landings if you are flying in this zone. No 3D helicopter flying or 3D plane hovering is allowed in this zone.

Aircraft - 3D - A pattern is not established in this zone. Airplanes are allowed to fly in a 3D manner. Hovering on the prop is allowed in this flight zone.

Helicopter - Hover - Helicopters are allowed to hover and move about in this zone. No aerobatics or forward flight is allowed.

Helicopter - 3D - Full 3D aerobatics are allowed in this zone.

An ICR Officer will note the areas on the PISA field for each flying ZONE location during the Pilots Safety Brief held before each ICR scheduled flying session. This will include any TIME periods being enforced for each type of flying if deemed necessary by pilot attendance and model types. Please note the ICR Flight Level Classification sheet for time period and heli pilot limitations. A general announcement will be given to the pilots for any change that may take place in each flying ZONE i.e. slow flyer aircraft in the General Pattern Zone at this time. Note this will be dependant on pilot attendance during an ICR scheduled flying session.

Remember, safety is everyone's responsibility. If you have any questions or do not understand any of the flight zone descriptions, don't hesitate to ask any club official or experienced member of the club. Please be courteous, we are all here to make the sport safe and enjoyable. ICR will not tolerate recklessness or rowdiness and unsafe flying at any time during a flying session. ICR has the right to eject any pilot from a scheduled ICR session without a refund for failure to observe the Flight Zone Descriptions listed here, NO EXCEPTIONS.
